25 viewsHow do I renew my SSL certificate?
Overview
SSL certificates secure your website with HTTPS. Most hosting SSLs (like Let’s Encrypt) renew automatically, but in some cases you may need to manually renew or reissue the certificate.
Step 1 – Check if renewal is needed
- Log in to your DirectAdmin control panel
- Go to: Account Manager → SSL Certificates
- Check the status of your certificate:
- Active = no action needed
- Expired / Invalid = renewal required
Step 2 – Renew SSL certificate (Auto method)
- In DirectAdmin, go to: Account Manager → SSL Certificates
- Select: Get automatic certificate from ACME Provider
- Choose: Let’s Encrypt
- Select your domain(s):
- yourdomain.com
- www.yourdomain.com
- mail subdomain (optional)
- or wildcard (if available)
- Click Save / Issue Certificate
Step 3 – Wait for activation
- The system will automatically issue and install the new SSL
- This usually takes a few minutes
- Once complete, HTTPS will become active again
If your SSL normally auto-renews
Most certificates renew automatically if:
- Your domain is pointing correctly
- The ACME service is enabled
- No DNS issues are present
If renewal fails, it’s usually due to DNS or domain configuration issues.
Important Notes
- Always ensure your domain is pointing to the correct nameservers
- SSL may fail to renew if DNS is incorrect
- You may need to reissue SSL after changing hosting or domains
