The “disk quota exceeded” error means your email account has reached its storage limit. When this happens, you will not be able to send or receive new emails until space is freed up or increased.

Step-by-Step Guide

Log in to your DirectAdmin control panel

Go to Email Manager

Click Email Accounts

Find the affected email address

Check the current disk usage

How to fix it

1. Delete old emails

Log in to webmail or email client Delete unnecessary emails, especially:

  • Large attachments
  • Old sent emails
  • Spam and trash folders

Then empty the Trash/Deleted Items folder

2. Clear folders in webmail

Log in to webmail Go through folders like:

  • Inbox
  • Sent
  • Junk/Spam
  • Trash

Remove unneeded messages

3. Increase mailbox quota (if available)

Go back to Email Accounts in DirectAdmin Edit the email account Increase the disk quota limit Save changes
