Overview
To use your hosting email on devices or email apps (like Outlook, iPhone, or Android), you need the correct incoming and outgoing mail server settings. These settings allow your email to send and receive messages properly.
Recommended Settings (IMAP – Preferred)
IMAP keeps your emails synced across all devices (recommended for most users).
Incoming Mail (IMAP)
- Server: mail.yourdomain.com
- Port: 993
- Encryption: SSL/TLS
- Username: Full email address (e.g. info@yourdomain.com)
- Password: Your email password
Outgoing Mail (SMTP)
- Server: mail.yourdomain.com
- Port: 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS)
- Encryption: SSL/TLS or STARTTLS
- Authentication: Required (use full email address + password)
POP3 Settings (Alternative)
POP downloads emails to a single device and removes them from the server (not recommended for multi-device use).
Incoming Mail (POP3)
- Server: mail.yourdomain.com
- Port: 995
- Encryption: SSL/TLS
- Username: Full email address
- Password: Your email password
Outgoing Mail (SMTP)
- Same as IMAP SMTP settings above
Important Notes
- Replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain name
- Always use IMAP unless you specifically need POP3
- Ensure SSL/TLS is enabled for secure email communication
- Your email must already be created in DirectAdmin before using these settings
Common Issues & Fixes

- Check SMTP authentication is enabled
- Confirm port 465 or 587 is being used
Cannot receive emails
- Verify IMAP/POP settings are correct
- Ensure domain DNS is pointing correctly
Login errors
- Double-check full email address is used as username
- Reset password via DirectAdmin if needed
